Bungie's upcoming extraction shooter, Marathon, is shifting to a premium model with a $40 price tag instead of a free-to-play model, following the success of Helldivers 2.
While Marathon will offer a standard cosmetic and battle-pass model, the game will not launch with a free-to-play model due to its current progression in development.
Game director Joe Ziegler may reveal additional details about Marathon, such as a potential hero system with customizable characters, in response to ongoing leaks and rumors.
Despite Bungie's layoffs, Marathon is still slated for a 2025 release, although company morale is said to be dwindling among remaining employees due to uncertainty.
