At 63, Dennis Beggs is breaking norms by attempting to run seven marathons in seven days on seven continents. Starting his running journey at 55 while caring for his Alzheimer's-affected mother, he initially struggled but gradually built endurance. His commitment grew after completing a surprising second place in a 10k race. Although his first marathon experience in 2017 was challenging, it spurred him on. Now, he advocates for starting small and acknowledges the mental and physical benefits running offers, embodying the belief that fitness can be achieved progressively.
Beggs said taking it slow and stretching helped him get into running marathons.
You start out small, and then you work your way up," Beggs said.
He appreciated the physical and mental benefits of running.
He wanted to start running instead to "waste less time," he told Business Insider.
