In its 2025 State of the Workplace report, ActivTrak found that the average work hours have shifted earlier, with employees clocking out by 4:39 p.m. This is a significant change from just two years prior when the workday typically ended at 5:21 p.m. Productivity has improved by 2%, with workers showing higher performance in short, intense bursts. The report also highlights the success of remote workers, who are now found to be the most productive category of employees, outperforming their in-office counterparts with an additional 29 minutes of productive work per day.
"These are healthy numbers," said Gabriela Mauch, the head of ActivTrak's Productivity Lab. "We've adapted to a traditional workday on average while offering flexibility and fluidity in a way that meets employees where they are."
The report noted that remote-only workers have the highest daily productivity (+29 mins) vs. other worker types.
ActivTrak reported that productivity has gone up by about 2%, and employees tend to work in productive 24-minute bursts.
Mauch highlighted how different months affect productivity, indicating that August and December showed the most hours worked compared to February and October.
