Starbucks says some remote workers may need to relocate to headquarters
Briefly

Starbucks has announced a new requirement for corporate employees to be in the office four days a week starting in early October. Corporate 'people leaders' must relocate to Seattle or Toronto within 12 months, although individual employees under those leaders will not need to move. The company emphasizes the importance of in-office work for collaboration and productivity. A voluntary exit program with cash payment is available for those who choose not to relocate. Major employers are increasingly calling employees back to the office following the pandemic.
"We are re-establishing our in-office culture because we do our best work when we're together. We share ideas more effectively, creatively solve hard problems, and move much faster," Niccol wrote in the letter.
Starbucks said that all corporate 'people leaders' must be based in either Seattle or Toronto within 12 months. That is a change from February, when it required vice-presidents to relocate to Seattle or Toronto.
