JPMorgan Chase's CEO Jamie Dimon reaffirmed a return-to-office requirement during a town hall meeting, disregarding a petition signed by over 1,300 employees advocating for a hybrid work environment. Dimon insisted that focus and creativity were compromised during remote work, highlighting the need for in-person collaboration. As the bank has reported record profits, employees questioned the necessity of a full-time office mandate since many already work remotely. Despite pushback and concerns raised by employees, Dimon remains firm on the five-day office policy set to take effect in March 2025.
"Don't waste time on it," Dimon stated when employees asked him about the petition during the town hall meeting, according to a recording obtained by Reuters.
Dimon said that while remote working, some employees failed to pay attention during Zoom meetings, which brought down their creativity and efficiency.
Employees even circulated a petition with 1,312 signatures asking for hybrid work to remain the default policy. Dimon, it seems, is not moved.
Workers questioned why the bank needed them back in the office full-time in 2025 if it proved able to drive record results while some worked on a hybrid schedule.
