Vivienne Westwood HQ set for major height expansion
""[The current headquarters are] cramped, confined and ill-serve the company that seeks to attract significant investment, high-calibre staff and project a global image of a strong, forward-looking and sustainable brand"."
""I like the idea of Vivienne Westwood's headquarters staying within Battersea.""
""I think that's a really good economic development. I also like the fact that they are using much of the existing building for sustainability reasons. I think that's really good and it's also historic.""
Wandsworth Council approved plans on 20 January to modernise and extend two buildings at Vivienne Westwood's Battersea headquarters. Parts of the existing building will be increased by up to eight storeys, producing a new headquarters up to ten storeys tall. The council described the current headquarters as cramped and unsuitable for attracting investment and high-calibre staff. Councillors welcomed the economic benefits and retention of the headquarters in Battersea while voicing concerns about potential overlooking of neighbouring properties. The project will reuse much of the existing building for sustainability and will be carried out in two phases to allow ongoing operations.
