Researchers found receiving the shingles vaccine was associated with a 17% lower risk of dementia compared to the older Zostavax vaccine, potentially delaying onset by almost six months.
The study showed women had a stronger effect, with a 22% decrease in dementia risk compared to 13% in men. Those receiving the new Shingrix vaccine had 23 to 27% lower dementia rates than other vaccinated groups.
