Platform guidance warned location can be affected by recent travel, temporary relocation, old IP addresses, or VPN use and that data may be inaccurate. The feature prompted public uproar, produced clarifications about inaccuracies for very old accounts, and led official accounts to reassure users about their domestic operation.
