YouTube has introduced safeguards limiting content exposure for teens, addressing issues such as body image and social aggression to prevent negative self-perception from harmful repeated messages.
The platform noted that some video categories might seem harmless individually but can be detrimental if teens view them repetitively, prompting the need for content limitations.
YouTube is also implementing crisis center panels across Europe, allowing teens to connect with crisis services if they engage with videos on sensitive topics like self-harm and eating disorders.
Alongside content restrictions, YouTube is enhancing parental controls, enabling parents to monitor their teens' activity, such as uploads and comments, through a dedicated Family Center hub.
