Harry Rose, editor of Which? magazine, noted, "Our research shows how smart tech manufacturers and the firms they work with are currently able to collect data from consumers... with little or no transparency."
The analysis found that three air fryer models - Aigostar, Xiaomi Mi Smart, and Cosori CAF-LI401S - could gather location data and requested permission to record audio on users' phones.
A Xiaomi spokesperson clarified that the permission to record audio on the Xiaomi Home app does not apply to their Smart Air Fryer as it doesn't operate through voice commands.
Both Aigostar and Xiaomi air fryers transmitted personal data to Chinese servers, something that was mentioned in their privacy notifications.
