Italian investigators are probing the sinking of the UK-flagged superyacht Bayesian, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals, including a well-known entrepreneur and his daughter.
Head of the public prosecutor's office, Ambrogio Cartosio, stated that while no individual is currently being targeted in the investigation, the possibility of multiple crimes involving manslaughter and negligence is 'plausible'.
While external observers attribute the sinking to a likely weather anomaly, investigators raise the concern of potential neglect or mishandling by the yacht's crew, underlying the need for accountability.
Giovanni Costantino, CEO of the Italian Sea Group, emphasized that the rapid capsizing was not due to design flaws, but rather a series of 'indescribable, unreasonable errors' by the crew.
