A beacon of hope': Indigenous people reunited with sacred cloak in Brazil

The Tupinamba de Olivenca people believe that the sacred feathered cloak is not just an object but an ancestor, holding significant cultural and spiritual importance.
Cacique Maria Valdelice Amaral de Jesus, also known as Jamopoty, emphasized the importance of the cloak's return in resolving land disputes, stating, "He said we must have our lands demarcated."
During an emotional ceremony, Jamopoty and other representatives connected with the cloak after over 335 years, capturing the deep cultural ties of the Tupinamba people.
About 200 Tupinamba traveled 1,250km to honor this reunion with their sacred relic, reflecting their commitment to cultural heritage and the challenges their community faces.
