"The Grand Ring is the symbol of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, and expresses the concept of Unity in Diversity, showcasing both modern techniques and traditional craftsmanship."
"Using a blend of local cypress, cedar, and Scots pine, the Grand Ring highlights regional materials while emphasizing the importance of traditional Japanese woodworking methods."
The Grand Ring, the world's largest wooden structure, has been completed for the Osaka 2025 Expo. This circular 2-kilometer landmark, designed by Sou Fujimoto Architects, features a 12-meter high walkway called the Sky Walk, offering scenic views of the Expo site and surrounding landscape. Constructed using local wood and traditional Nuki joints, it emphasizes sustainability and cultural heritage. The structure serves as both an attraction and a functional visitor route, symbolizing the Expo's theme of Unity in Diversity, and has received official certification from Guinness World Records.
