Authorities say Bergeron then fled the scene, but was later arrested by police. Few details are known about the crime, but police allege Bergeron shot Ireland with a rifle at a home on the east side of Detroit.
The felony charges against Bergeron indicate that he at least has some previous criminal record. The 35-year-old has more than $1 million in live tournament winnings and was also won considerably at online poker.
Bergeron has a notable poker history with significant winnings, including over $1 million in live tournaments, but he hasn't had a major tournament cash since 2019.
