Your child is halfway through 5th class, or maybe just 4th class, and suddenly you are met with an eye-rolling, scornful, back-answering child that you didn't expect to meet until they were a fully fledged teenager. Your child develops the capacity to be aware of their own thoughts and others' thoughts, rather than thinking in a more literal way, only being able to consider the physical world that they are engaging with.
