Meta's Threads is testing a new feature called 'Loops', meant to create community groups within the app, similar to Subreddits and X Communities. This was discovered by early adopter Chris Messina, who uncovered references to 'Loops' in the app code. Although this feature is still in early development and hasn't been tested yet, it hints at a new direction for Threads to foster user engagement through themed discussions.
The newly discovered 'Loops' will allow users to join communities and engage in discussions on various topics. Unlike many platforms that employ traditional hashtags, Threads seems poised to implement a different tagging system for Loops, indicating a strategic move to differentiate the community engagement experience. Details on the implementation of these features remain scarce, however.
Despite the excitement surrounding the development of Loops, much about its functionality and user experience is yet to be determined. Developer Alessandro Paluzzi indicated that initial glimpses suggest a menu for creating new Loops, but full capabilities and designs are still under wraps. It's a significant yet cautious step towards what could be a more vibrant community space on Threads.
