"It's a hard scenario ... window for us to do something is closing," says Luciana Gatti, a climate scientist at Brazil's National Institute for Space Research.
In a 2021 survey, almost half of young adults aged 16-25 in 10 countries reported that climate distress affected their ability to sleep and work.
Only 6% of IPCC authors believe achieving the 1.5°C warming limit is possible, resulting in distress and frustration over global climate crisis management.
"Climate researchers are grappling every single day with important information," says Robin Cooper from the Climate Psychiatry Alliance.
