In a statement from prison, Erik Menéndez criticized the Netflix drama, calling it 'dishonest' and suggesting Ryan Murphy had 'bad intent' in its creation.
Ryan Murphy responded to Erik's critique by stating, 'It's really hard - if it's your life - to see your life up on screen,' acknowledging the difficulty in portraying real-life events.
Murphy defended the inclusion of multiple perspectives in the show, noting, 'There were four people involved... We had an obligation as storytellers to also try and put in their perspective.'
Murphy claimed that 'if you watch the show, I would say 60 to 65 percent' focuses on the abuse the Menéndez brothers claim to have endured during their childhood.
