An asteroid named 2014 TN17, measuring approximately 540 feet in diameter, is set to make its closest approach to Earth in over a century. Traveling at a staggering speed of 48,000 miles per hour, it will skim by at around 3 million miles away, far beyond the reach of binoculars or telescopes. Classified as 'potentially hazardous' due to its size and proximity, NASA confirms there is zero risk of collision, although such flybys are more common than many people realize. Hypothetically, an impact could devastate a city but would not threaten life on Earth.
2014 TN17 is pretty large, definitely big enough to hypothetically flatten a major city, but there's absolutely no risk of it hitting Earth.
Asteroid 2014 TN17 is estimated to be around 540 feet in diameter, which is greater than the height of the Pyramid of Giza.
