Energy bills to increase by almost 150 after Ofgem raises price cap by 10 per cent
Briefly

Householders in Britain can expect their energy bills to increase by 10% this winter, with the average annual bill rising to $1,717 starting on October 1.
Despite the increase, average energy bills remain 6% lower than a year ago and significantly below the peak of $4,059 seen in early 2023 due to the energy crisis.
Cornwall Insight predicts that further modest increases in energy prices will occur in January 2025, potentially driven by ongoing tensions in the Russia-Ukraine war.
Jess Ralston from the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit cautions that average winter bills will be around 50% higher compared to pre-crisis levels.
