All procedures were carried out in accordance with Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee protocols at the Allen Institute for Brain Science, ensuring strict adherence to ethical standards for animal welfare.
For our research, we utilized a diverse cohort of 108 mice, 44 aged and 64 young adults, isolating a total of 287 libraries to study neuronal characteristics.
The study focused on efficient and unbiased sampling, utilizing transgenic driver lines for fluorescence-positive cell isolation to enrich primarily for neuronal populations in the collected samples.
Maintaining specific environmental conditions, mice were housed in pairs without more than five per cage, ensuring a controlled and humane breeding and husbandry environment.
