Plane crashes near Connecticut airport, man and teen girl miraculously rescued from Long Island Sound wreckage

A small plane, a Piper PA-32, crashed into Long Island Sound off Connecticut shortly after takeoff from Bridgeport. Both occupants, a 41-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, survived the incident with only minor injuries, primarily cuts and exposure to cold water. After a call for emergency assistance, they were directed to land at Tweed New Haven Airport but were unable to reach there. The U.S. Coast Guard and a good Samaritan rescued them from the water. An investigation into the crash's cause is ongoing.
