The U.S. Tennis Association announced a team of Brandon Nakashima, Mackie McDonald, Reilly Opelka, Austin Krajicek, and Rajeev Ram for the Davis Cup competition.
Fritz and Tiafoe competed in the first U.S. Open semifinal between two American men in 19 years, with Fritz winning in a five-set match.
Fritz will face No. 1 Jannik Sinner for the U.S. Open title, while Sinner also is not on Italy's Davis Cup roster.
