University of Delaware freshman killed by motorcyclist fleeing cops after her first day of classes
Briefly

Noelia Gomez, an 18-year-old freshman at the University of Delaware, tragically lost her life when a speeding motorcyclist, fleeing police, struck her in front of friends just after finishing her first day of classes.
University of Delaware President Dennis Assanis expressed profound sorrow about the incident, stating, "Incidents such as this are unimaginably tragic... We cannot express enough how sorry we are for the family, friends, and greater community as we are all so deeply shaken by the sudden loss of one of our own."
The motorcyclist’s actions led to a high-speed crash on the sidewalk, injuring not only Gomez but also four other pedestrians, complicating the immediate aftermath of the incident.
Despite police efforts to stop the motorcyclist over traffic offenses, the chase ended fatally when the rider, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, collided with Gomez shortly after the officer had turned off the emergency lights.
