Times Square ball takes final test for New Year's Eve
Briefly

"This is the crossroads of the entire planet right here in New York City," New York City Mayor Eric Adams stated, emphasizing the global significance of the Times Square New Year's Eve celebration.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch noted that while there are 'no specific credible threats' to the celebrations, the public will see extensive police presence and security measures throughout Times Square.
The Times Square New Year's Eve ball has been a tradition for nearly 120 years, pausing only during 1942 and 1943 for wartime dimouts, highlighting its historical significance.
About 3,000 pounds of confetti, including wishes written by the public, will fall at midnight, contributing to the celebratory atmosphere expected in Times Square.
