A 17-year-old has been charged with first-degree felony murder, first-degree carjacking, and other offenses after fatally shooting a father during an attempted carjacking in New Jersey. The father was killed while trying to protect his children, who were left unharmed in their car seats.
The teenager attempted to drive away in the father's vehicle while he was standing at the back after leaving his church. The father, Yoni Emanuel Cruz-Rodriguez, tried to reach his children in the car but was shot multiple times before the carjacker crashed the vehicle and fled.
