NYC gets summery springtime Saturday - warmest day so far of 2025
Briefly

New York City is set to enjoy unseasonably warm temperatures this Saturday, reaching a high of 83 degrees, marking the warmest day of 2025 thus far. Meteorologist Marissa Lautenbacher notes this is about 20 degrees above the average seasonal temperature of 63. Although not a record, it surpasses an earlier 81-degree day in March. The weather will remain warm for Easter but cool off on Monday before warming up again. Overall, this spring has been notably warmer, averaging 3.3 degrees higher than in previous years, with some record-breaking low temperatures.
The tail end of March and beginning of April have been on average 3.3 degrees higher than in years past, but has included plenty of major temperature swings.
Despite the attention-getting temps, the burst in warm weather doesn't beat the record for the day, which was set in 1976 when the metro area turned in a 92-degree sauna.
Luckily, we will warm back up for New York City - Tuesday will have a high of 78, and then we'll be in the low 70s, upper 60s for the rest of the week.
This spring season so far has been deceivingly hotter than normal, reaching temperatures about 20 degrees above the average.
