Man accused over 1.4m watch raid gives evidence
Briefly

Mannix Pedro, accused of driving the getaway car in a £1.38 million watch robbery, claims he had never met his co-defendant, Junior Kunu, prior to the trial. Both men deny conspiracy to commit robbery, which involved the theft of over 70 luxury watches from 247 Kettles in Richmond. Following the robbery, the office manager took his life, allegedly as a direct result. The prosecution argues that Pedro's prior visits to the shop were part of a scheme designed to carry out the heist, while two additional suspects connected to the case remain at large.
Mr. Pedro insisted he had never met Mr. Kunu before their trial and first saw him when a video of the alleged robbery was going around on social media.
Prosecution alleges Mr. Pedro was involved in driving a getaway car, having driven hundreds of miles after the robbery.
Edward Brown KC, prosecuting, said this visit was either an 'aborted robbery' or a 'recce' for the operation on 25 May.
Oliver White, the office manager, took his own life the following day as a direct result of the robbery, jurors have heard.
