Good Time Country Buffet will open in the East Village at 166 First Avenue, near East 10th Street, in the spring. For Good Time Country Buffet, restaurateurs David JoonWoo Yun, Yong Min Kim, and Steve JaeWoo Choi are taking cues from the Southern buffets they'd go to growing up in Atlanta."
"Expect classic Southern dishes like fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, collard greens, and stuffing. According to the community paperwork filed back in October, the space will have 60 seats and offer food for $25.99, as reported by EV Grieve. It's taking over what had been the Ferns bar, which closed in February 2025. For more intel and other news you won't find on the site, sign up for our Eater New York Substack."
Restaurateurs David JoonWoo Yun, Yong Min Kim, and Steve JaeWoo Choi are opening Good Time Country Buffet at 166 First Avenue in the East Village this spring. The buffet draws on Southern buffet traditions from the owners' upbringing in Atlanta and will serve fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, collard greens, stuffing, and similar classics. Community paperwork filed in October lists 60 seats and a $25.99 price for food. The space replaces the Ferns bar, which closed in February 2025. Separately, a Bed-Stuy building fire injured six and damaged longtime bar Dynaco, prompting a GoFundMe, and Punjabi Grocery and Deli has reopened after plumbing issues.
