Last week, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and Iranian human rights activist Narges Mohammadi was violently beaten by prison guards, raising serious concerns about her health and safety.
According to her lawyer, Mostafa Nili, Ms. Mohammadi's requests for medical care have been consistently denied, despite orders from prison doctors to address her deteriorating condition.
For the past nine months, prison authorities have blocked Ms. Mohammadi from making phone calls or meeting with her lawyer and family, reflecting ongoing human rights violations.
Ms. Mohammadi, Iran's foremost human rights activist, continues to advocate from within the women's ward of Evin prison, organizing protests and educational initiatives despite severe restrictions.
