Ex-con with lengthy rap sheet kills neighbor, stabs dying man's dog in unhinged NYC attack: cops

Anthony Sabato, 37, with 17 prior arrests, stabbed neighbor Thomas Machalchick, demanding property before the fatal incident. He then knifed the neighbor's dog, leading to murder charges and no bail.

Sabato was charged with first and second-degree murder, robbery, possession of stolen property, weapon possession, and animal torture. He had a history of arrests, including serving time for assault and weapon possession.
