Mr McGregor has made a few posts regarding his frustration and disappointment with the verdict, given the preponderance of evidence, including the CCTV. He respects the role of the jury but disagrees with their decision. He maintains the relationship was consensual and will file an appeal shortly.
The Courts Service states that appeals from decisions of the High Court in civil cases must be brought within 28 days of the court registrar signing the order in question. It comes after the Dubliner was hit with a legal bill of around €1m last week, after a judge ruled he must pay Nikita Hand's legal costs.
Mr Justice Alexander Owens also indicated he was considering bringing contempt proceedings against Mr McGregor over a social media post in which he described the court as 'a kangaroo court'. Lawyers representing Ms Hand urged the judge to have regard to the post-trial social media posts, saying they were 'a direct insult' to the jury.
