Police sources reported that Shane Cunnison, 37, and 33-year-old Nigel Dumas had made eye contact through the train car window, igniting a glare contest that concluded with Dumas confronting Cunnison and brandishing a knife. This altercation led to Cunnison being fatally stabbed with his own weapon, highlighting a tragic turn of events in a seemingly mundane subway ride.
Police source indicated that Nigel Dumas allegedly entered the opposing car when the train stopped at the East 149th Street station to confront Shane Cunnison, demanding to know if Cunnison was part of a gang. Following this confrontation, a brawl erupted wherein Cunnison was ultimately stabbed in the torso using his own knife.
