"A 46-year-old BMW driver died early Sunday after he slammed into a support pillar underneath elevated subway tracks in the Bronx, police said. The driver was zipping south on Jerome Ave. in Fordham Heights when he sideswiped an I-beam supporting the overhead No. 4 train tracks near E. 181st St. just before 4:30 a.m., cops said. He then veered away, over-corrected and crashed his 2022 BMW 330i into another I-beam head-on, cops said."

The crash occurred just before 4:30 a.m. on Jerome Ave. in Fordham Heights near E. 181st St. The driver sideswiped an I-beam supporting the overhead No. 4 train tracks, then veered away, over-corrected and collided head-on with another I-beam. The vehicle involved was a 2022 BMW 330i. Medics transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he could not be saved. The driver's name was not immediately released.
