Thomas Montice, 30, grabbed a chair from the inside of a 24-hour bakery on Broadway near West 47th Street around 9:15 p.m. and brought it outside, police said.
He punched the worker in the face before the two grappled on the ground, with Montice wrapped around the employee, cops said.
Seconds later, the worker felt that he had been stabbed, police said.
Meanwhile, Montice, of Harlem, was arrested at the scene and charged with assault in the second and third degrees, as well as criminal possession of a weapon, cops said.
