'Absolutely disgusted' - victim's mother hits out after Limerick hurler Kyle Hayes receives All-Star award
Briefly

"Since when did convicted criminals become role models?" Elaine McCarthy expressed her outrage regarding the nomination of Mr. Hayes for an All-Star award despite his violent past.
"Only for the gardaí arriving on that night, Cillian may not be alive today," Ms McCarthy recounted the severity of her son's injuries following a brutal attack.
"His eye was put back into his head, his face was full of blood. I just went, oh my lord, what happened to you?" Elaine described the traumatic moment she first saw her injured son.
"We've all suffered mentally as well. [My son] didn't ask to be beaten... he didn't come home the same way he went out," Ms McCarthy reflected on the lasting impact of the incident.
