Tom Brady will be part of the broadcast team for Super Bowl LIX, where the Eagles face the Chiefs. This matchup brings back memories of Brady's painful Super Bowl LII loss to the Eagles. During the NFC Championship Game, Brady's broadcast partner Kevin Burkhardt playfully reminded him of that defeat as he referenced Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles. Brady responded with a humorous remark, acknowledging his jealousy towards Foles for achieving what he could not. Despite Brady's history of avoiding Foles post-game, he emphasized the importance of good sportsmanship although sometimes emotions get the better of him.
During the game, Fox cameras showed former Eagles QB Nick Foles taking in the game from a suite at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field - with Burkhardt not passing up the opportunity to call out New England's championship loss to Foles in 2018. "Nick Foles in the building," Burkhardt said. "Super Bowl MVP that led to that Super Bowl win. Who did he play in that game? Do you know who he played that game?"
Brady's retort makes several references to both the signal-caller's presumed icy outlook toward Foles - as well as a pair of trick plays from Super Bowl LII that swung the momentum in that high-scoring, heavyweight bout. While Brady has remained on good terms with several other top QBs that he's battled with over the years, including the only other quarterback to hand him a loss in a Super Bowl in Eli Manning - Brady snubbed Foles in multiple post game handshakes over the years.
I try to be a good sport as best as I can," Brady said of avoiding Foles when revisiting the handshakes in 2022. "I know it doesn't always look like that because sometimes I get emotional in those moments. I know I have seen Nick since then, but sometimes...you just don’t feel like it.
Brady's broadcast partner at Fox in Kevin Burkhardt didn't wait very long to twist the knife against the former Patriots QB during Sunday's broadcast of the NFC Championship Game between the Eagles and Commanders.
