"IF YOU WANT ME TO BE YOUR VILLAIN, ILL BE YOUR VILLAIN! SEE YOU SOON..." posted by Al-Shaair on social media after the suspension ruling, suggests defiance and a readiness to embrace his role in the controversy.
Jon Runyan stated that Al-Shaair's hit was deemed 'unacceptable,' emphasizing the NFL's commitment to player safety by noting the linebacker’s disregard for safety rules will ‘not be tolerated.’
After detailing Al-Shaair's actions that led to his suspension, Runyan noted that the linebacker 'proceeded to engage in a brawl' and 'removed your helmet' which contributed to escalating conflict on the field.
Despite this suspension costing him about $265,000 of his $1.5 million base salary, Al-Shaair will return for the regular-season finale against the Titans.
