AR is helping cities show residents a better-built future
Briefly

The Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council is utilizing InCitu's augmented reality platform to improve communication about climate-resilient infrastructure projects. Traditionally, tools like 2D images failed to effectively convey the scale of projects. By leveraging AR, the council aims to provide residents with immersive experiences, showcasing future developments as they would appear in real life. This innovative approach facilitates better understanding and engagement among community members. InCitu's technology, launched in multiple U.S. cities, offers a new perspective on infrastructure planning, aiming to bridge the gap between experts and the public.
"I wanted to communicate this type of information so that a non-professional can experience it as they walk down the street," Dana Chermesh-Reshef, the CEO of InCitu, told Business Insider.
"What better way to do that than to really let them experience it in real time in the physical space?" said Sarah Vitale, the director of civic technology at the TBRPC.
