Alameda County Landlords, Be Prepared for May 2023
Briefly

The Alameda County Eviction Moratorium, passed in response to the pandemic, is set to expire on April 29, 2023, after nearly three years of restrictions.
With the moratorium lifting, landlords will finally be able to pursue evictions after significant financial losses during a period when 32,900 households accrued $125 million in unpaid rent.
Hundreds of landlords have faced severe financial hardship under the moratorium, as they were unable to remove tenants, even those who hadn't paid rent since early 2020.
The expiration of Ordinance No. O-2020-41 brings hope for property owners in Alameda County, allowing them to re-establish their rights to enforce lease agreements.
