In Suffolk County, a police officer was injured during an attempted arrest of a suspect involved in vehicle theft. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning after a 911 call reported suspicious activity. One suspect, Marcello Martinez, was arrested, while his accomplice, Steven Vazquez, initially fled and later stabbed the officer in two places while trying to evade capture. The injured officer was treated and released after receiving medical attention. Vazquez now faces multiple charges, while Martinez is charged with possession of burglar’s tools and stolen property.
