The MTA announced the implementation of Automated Camera Enforcement (ACE) for city buses, aiming to combat illegal parking that disrupts bus operations. Starting on April 28, 2024, the M2 and M4 bus routes will enter a 60-day warning phase before fines are issued. ACE technology will be on over 1,000 buses covering 475 miles of routes. MTA officials highlight the necessity of this measure, as NYC buses currently average only 8 miles per hour, making them the slowest in the nation.
The MTA aims to enhance bus travel efficiency by implementing Automated Camera Enforcement, issued fines to deter drivers from blocking bus lanes and stops.
With over 1,000 buses now equipped with ACE, the initiative addresses critical enforcement needs to maintain clear bus lanes essential for timely bus operations.
