SFMTA failed to resolve claims of harassment, says key witness in Day 3 of trial
Briefly

Elias Georgopoulos has returned to court alleging the SFMTA failed to address racial harassment and discrimination he endured as a parking enforcement officer. His attorney asserts that the agency's negligence in mediating disputes and responding to protection requests makes them culpable for the ongoing harassment. A key witness, former deputy director James Lee, testified that despite advising on conflict resolution, no significant actions were taken by the SFMTA, leading to Georgopoulos' claims of unsafe working conditions and a contentious environment, emphasizing the agency's accountability in the matter.
"The bottom line is the city should have intervened," said Eduardo Roy, who is representing Georgopoulos in his case against SFMTA for racial harassment and retaliation, among other issues.
Lee said that when Parveen Boparai, SFMTA's employee and labor relations manager, was informed of Georgopoulos' multiple allegations of harassment, she told the parking enforcement division to provide conflict resolution and mediation services.
In a response to Boparai, SFMTA stated they had responded - by trying to get the transit workers' union to intervene, according to a former SFMTA human resources employee read into evidence.
That failure... makes the city culpable for the racial harassment faced by his client at the hands of coworkers.
