Governor Kathy Hochul officially revived congestion pricing, reducing Manhattan tolls by 40%. Most motorists entering below 60th Street now pay $9, down from $15.
Hochul stated, 'I believe no New Yorker should have to pay a penny more than is necessary... $15 was just too much.' This reflects a commitment to reducing costs.
The congestion pricing initiative is expected to raise $15 billion for MTA capital improvements, including critical upgrades like the 2nd Avenue Subway and new railcars.
In addition to toll reductions, the MTA has been instructed to boost bus service frequency on 23 routes in the outer boroughs, enhancing public transport access.
