Brush fires on Long Island's East End have prompted significant emergency responses, shutting down a main route to the Hamptons. The fires are located near Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton and in the Pine Barrens, necessitating a coordinated countywide effort by multiple fire departments. As a result of the fires, the eastbound Sunrise Highway has been closed at Exit 58, with police advising people to avoid the area.
