Illuminate and the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department are set to kick off the fifth season of Illuminate LIVE, a free concert series at the historic Golden Gate Bandshell, on March 1, 2025. This exciting season will include over 125 performances, particularly featuring women-fronted bands, and will run through mid-November. The Bandshell has emerged as a significant cultural venue, showcasing diverse genres and attracting nearly 1 million attendees over the previous years. A tribute concert for Paul McCartney will also mark the opening, aligning with a related photography exhibit at the nearby de Young Museum.
Illuminate LIVE's fifth season at the Golden Gate Bandshell will feature over 125 free concerts, starting March 1, highlighting women-fronted bands and celebrating the venue's 125th anniversary.
The Bandshell has evolved into a hub for diverse musical genres, having hosted more than 600 free shows, and drawing nearly 1 million visitors over the past four years.
With the Bandshell's renovation in 2020, it now boasts world-class sound and lighting, reinforcing its role as the center of independent music in a park that attracts over 23 million visitors annually.
The opening concert of the 2025 season will honor Paul McCartney, coinciding with the 'Paul McCartney Photographs 1963-64' exhibit at the de Young Museum, adding cultural richness to the event.
