Deerhoof, the experimental rock band, is set to release their 20th studio album, 'Noble and Godlike in Ruin', on April 25. They recently shared a new song, 'Immigrant Songs', via Craigslist in a bid to challenge mainstream tech platforms. The song tackles immigration issues, reflecting on the harsh realities faced by marginalized immigrants. The album features ten tracks and includes collaboration with Saul Williams. To support the Trevor Project, the band is also touring across North America and Europe starting in May, showcasing their commitment to social issues through music.
"This song is kind of a sequel to Satomi describing her immigration tribulations in 'Exit Only,'" explained drummer Greg Saunier. "It's what it feels like to see the discourse around immigration get so twisted...."
The unconventional premiere, which lists the song under 'Services' posts advertising Deerhoof for hire... serves to spotlight a tech platform that 'isn't blatantly supporting fascism.'
Noble and Godlike in Ruin spans 10 songs, including the recent singles 'Overrated Species Anyhow' and 'Sparrow Sparrow'... to raise money for the Trevor Project.
It's these heroic fugitives, not millionaire politicians holding little signs... who actually have a thing or two to teach us all about how to resist and survive.
