Bobby Grossman's exhibition, "Corn Flakes and More," presents oversized boxes decorated with black-and-white images of iconic figures like Andy Warhol and David Byrne from 50 years ago. Available at Ki Smith Gallery, each box includes a narrative of its origin and a whimsical graphic by John Holmstrom, detailing how to enjoy Corn Flakes. Inside, there are novelty items like prints and zines, reminiscent of cereal box prizes. Grossman recalls his experiences photographing celebrities, highlighting the uniqueness of each subject, from Debbie Harry to Joan Jett.
"It's amazing! I never thought that I'd execute it," proclaims Grossman about his latest show, showcasing oversized Corn Flakes boxes with celebrity portraits from decades ago.
"According to Grossman, Debbie Harry was the first, David Johansen was the most fun, and Joan Jett was, well, the least cooperative," referring to the portraits of celebrities holding Corn Flakes.
