A new restaurant is set to open at the New Museum as part of its expansion, led by Oberon Group and chef Julia Sherman. Known for her fusion of food and art, Sherman aims to create a dining experience that welcomes all, not just museum-goers. This initiative reflects her background of collaborating with various museums and focus on health-conscious yet playful cuisine. The exact restaurant name remains unpublicized, but it is slated to open in conjunction with the museum's reopening in 2025.
"I think that the hope is also that it serves everyone, not just people going to the museum," she said (you don't need a museum ticket for entry).
"Cheffy is not something that I'm aiming for; I want the food to reflect a home cooking philosophy, vibrant and synonymous with seasonal dining."
