One of the Defining Restaurants of Its Generation Just Announced It's Closing
Briefly

Blanca, a pioneering Brooklyn restaurant known for its two Michelin stars and unique culinary approach, will serve its final dinner on April 12 due to its landlord terminating the lease. Founded by chef Carlo Mirarchi in 2012 as an offshoot of Roberta's, the restaurant gained accolades for its creative, ingredient-focused dishes. Mirarchi's journey to success involved financial struggles and an unconventional development process, relying on innovative cooking methods and a dedicated team, shaping Blanca's reputation as a must-visit dining experience in Brooklyn.
It’s almost a miracle that Blanca existed in the first place, but unfortunately there’s no miracle that could save the acclaimed Brooklyn chef's counter restaurant tucked behind a pizzeria.
Unlike other chefs who’ve reached his Michelin two-star heights, Mirarchi didn’t stage in high-end kitchens across Europe to hone his craft; he harnessed his obsessive streak to improve his cooking.
Mirarchi's ambition grew, leading to a tasting menu one night a week at one table, giving the Roberta's team the confidence to open a 12-seat tasting-menu-only chef’s counter.
The restaurant’s landlord has decided to terminate the lease. The location, which had two Michelin stars at its height, will serve its last dinner on April 12.
